What is First Steps?

First Steps is Indiana’s Early Intervention program that provides low to no cost therapy services for ages birth-3 to target developmental delays and/or disabilities. First Steps services are available to all Hoosier families-not just those receiving Medicaid insurance. If you have concern about your child’s development, consult your pediatrician or check out the Indiana First Steps Website.

Already 3 Years Old?

If your child has aged out of First Steps, or is over the age of 3, you may still be able to get covered speech/language and/or special education services through your public school district. To request an evaluation, call or email the designated contact person and indicate “I would like the school district to conduct an educational evaluation for my child” either by phone or email.
